The People Want Privacy!

Does your web browser prioritize privacy for its users? Is that something that’s important to you? Apparently, it’s important to a lot of internet surfers today, according to new research from eyeo and Opera.

The research polled 2,500 internet users around the globe, and the findings are fascinating from a privacy point of view. A whopping 83% of those polled said they would consider switching from their current internet browser to one that would offer greater privacy protections, while only 25% said that they trust their current browser with personal data.

50% said they used an ad tracker in the last month, while 64% have made an effort to remove cookies. That said, 35% understood and saw value in the function of cookies, while 69% were okay with some ads as a tradeoff to free news.

If you’re one of those who are concerned about their web browser’s privacy policies, consider a web browser like Brave or Mozilla Firefox. Both put privacy protections at the forefront of their design, while other web browsers simply offer privacy features as more of a bonus.
