T-Mobile Suffers Data Breach, Unclear if Customer Data Affected

T-Mobile is the latest company to suffer a data breach. The carrier stated Monday that “someone” was gained unauthorized access to its computer network, but it’s not clear whether any customer data was taken.

“We are confident that the entry point used to gain access has been closed, and we are continuing our deep technical review of the situation across our systems to identify the nature of any data that was illegally accessed,” T-Mobile said.

While T-Mobile went public with the news on Monday, it was Motherboard that broke the story Sunday. In that report, Motherboard claimed 30 million T-Mobile customers had their data available for purchase on the dark web, worth roughly $270,000 in Bitcoin.
