We use a lot of screens, and those screens get dirty. Smartphones, tablets, and touch screen computers are obviously the main culprits, but even non-touch screen devices like MacBooks get filthy fast. Before you grab those paper towels, know there’s a specific tool that’s perfect for cleaning most screens in your life.
What’s this magical tool, you ask? It’s the microfiber cloth. You might have these lying around the house already — these small cloths with tiny fibers throughout (hence the name) are designed to pick up dust and debris like no one’s business. Wipe down a dusty counter with a microfiber cloth, for example, and you’ll find a clean surface when you’re done. The gunk simply sticks to the cloth.
These cloths are perfect for the delicate screens in our lives. Just like with other household surfaces, microfiber cloths pick up the dust and smudges that cover your screens, all while being extremely gentle. You need to have a gentle hand yourself, but a soft wipe of your screen with a microfiber cloth will clean it almost perfectly.
That said, it might not go all the way. A supplement cleaning solution can help gets those remaining spots that just seem to stubbornly stick. But, unlike the microfiber cloth, cleaning solutions can be dangerous for your screen. You need to know what type of screen it is before using and old cleaning solution.
The first step? Look up your computer online for cleaning instructions. The manufacture likely has a recommendation for a clean solution — if any — based on the material of the screen. If you do pick up a cleaning solution that works for your device, just don’t forget the microfiber cloth!
