TikTok is on the chopping block. That is, at least, if your device belongs to the US Government.
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee passed a bill on May 12 to ban US federal workers from downloading TikTok on any government device.
This isn’t the first time a ban has come forth from the government — in August 2020, the Senate approved a measure that mirrored the language in this bill.
While the app is immensely popular in the US and abroad, there are security concerns surrounding the app’s owner, ByteDance, which is based in China.
