You might have heard that you shouldn’t use the same password more than once. You don’t want one hack exposing the password for all of your accounts. But did you know you should be changing those passwords as well?
It might sound like a hassle, but changing your passwords frequently can help protect your individual accounts from malicious activity. As you well know, bad actors look for ways to break into digital accounts night and day (it’s basically a full time job!) We do so much online these days that it’s all too likely at least one of our accounts will become vulnerable at some point.
The problem is, while many services alert you when there’s been a breach, they can’t catch everything. You might not realize that a hacker has your login info until it’s too late. The best way to prevent that from happening, therefore, is to change your passwords regularly.
With regular password resets, you protect yourself from hackers who might have gained access to your old credentials. They can enter “m3rit_so!utions” as many times as they want, but it’s never going to work if you’ve already changed it to “cyb3_r$ecur!ty.”
Stay safe out there!
